We now expect that our children have their morning list done BEFORE breakfast. The list of what they need to do before breakfast is posted in the hallway and the 30 minutes before breakfast are set aside in our schedule for getting ready.

Breakfast is a great motivator for hungry kids when you need them to do something quickly. Rather than moping about, kids are motivated by their growling tummies to use their time well. Being ready before breakfast allows us to use our morning time well and we are able to help clean up our meal and move on to our next activity quickly. If the kids are not ready by the time breakfast has started, then we start without them. They lose time to eat breakfast when they are late to the table. They learn this concept quickly and get ready in a jiffy!
